Usually the size of the water pipes in general depends on the equipment used.

1. Water supply pipe size

  • The minimum diameter of the water supply pipe from the main source is  20 mm .
  • Branch water pipes, water supply pipes to equipment are at least  13 mm .

2. Drain pipe size

  • Main drainage pipes  > 102 mm .
  • Horizontal drainage pipe of the floor  > 78 mm .
  • Bathtub, toilet, washing machine …  > 38 mm .
  • Bathroom floor drain  > 38 mm .

When going water pipes in the house, you must adhere to a few rules:

  • Absolutely do not connect the T and X when installing the sewage system pipeline.
  • Minimize the use of complex joints, especially for horizontal pipes.
  • Allows opening of the whole system from sanitary waste pipes to rainwater drainage pipes. Water traps must be ventilated.
  • Need to be watertight and ventilated for manholes, sewage tanks, septic tanks. You can choose the air duct smaller than the exhaust pipe.
  • All sanitary ware should be fitted with a separate odor-preventing water trap. Doors should be easily accessible when needed or in the event of an emergency.
  • Horizontal pipes should have a diameter of  approximately 78 mm  and a slope in the direction of flow of  1/50 .

To install stainless steel water pipes need to go through the following steps:

Step 1:  Set up the principle diagram of water supply and drainage

For efficient indoor plumbing, you must have the correct plumbing scheme set up. They will help you know the operating principles of the water supply and drainage system in the house. From here, you can locate the water supply, drainage, pump, etc.

Step 2: Design the water supply and drainage ground

During the design process, you should find a way to arrange storage boxes, sewage pipes, hot and cold water pipes to save space and be reasonable.

Next, equipment such as water meters, pumps, septic tanks, … need to consider the placement for easy repair when damaged.

Step 3: Deploy details of water pipe installation

It is advisable to clearly define the details to be installed such as septic tanks; how to install water pipes in the house, including waste and supply sources, etc., so that pipers can get the most accurate and clear view when installing.

Step 4: Install the water pipe according to the procedure

Finally, you proceed to install the indoor water pipe according to the design above. Usually the installation process will be carried out after the construction of the rough part of the house.

Doing so will help workers easily construct as well as not have to cut the wall, ensuring the aesthetics of your house after completion.

Some errors to note when installing

Laying sewage pipes with the wrong slope:  The ideal slope of a water supply and drainage pipe is about 300mm, the length is 6.5mm (2%). When you install this slope correctly, it allows waste water and solids to be swept away. If the pipe is too steep (>4%) it will clog the pipeline.

No ventilation for water traps: Water  traps have the function of preventing toxic and foul gases from entering the house. If not properly ventilated, it will lead to the water in the trap being sucked up, causing the trap to dry out and no longer work when used.

Leave the air duct horizontal:  Generally, there are two types of ventilation for the water trap, wet and dry. Wet ventilation uses oversized drain pipes as ventilation ducts. Dry ventilation uses a separate tube with only one function to supply air to the system. If both are sealed, the ventilation system is no longer effective.

Improperly arranged entrance gate:  The entrance gate has the effect of opening and cleaning the drain, so it must be arranged in many places, otherwise it will cause blockage of the water line. The places that need to be arranged are the main pipe exiting, the main pipe meeting the horizontal pipe, where the main pipe is diverted,….

Not leaving enough ventilation space:  It is necessary to maintain a space between the faucets and the floor drain hole, which prevents wastewater from being sucked back into the water supply.

Why should you install stainless steel water pipes?

Besides the options of installing PPR water pipes, installing uPVC water pipes, installing HDPE water pipes in the house. Installing stainless steel water pipes is a safe, easy to construct solution to meet all volumetric and customer requirements. Stainless steel plumbing products at P69 Company possess the following advantages:

1. High corrosion resistance

Stainless steel   has absolute corrosion resistance when exposed to many chemicals, including highly corrosive chemicals. Stainless steel is rust resistant in most architectural applications, in most food processing environments and is easy to clean.

So it is used in many different industries and especially in food processing and home appliances. Products made of stainless steel are easy to clean and ensure food hygiene and safety.

2. Heat resistance

Stainless steel   exhibits good oxidation resistance at a temperature of 870 degrees C, and continues to show up to a temperature of 925 degrees C In cases where high thermal resistance is required, a material with a high higher carbon content.

Note: It is forbidden to use 304 stainless steel with a carbon content of 0.04% or higher above 550 degrees Celsius.

3. Ability to shape and process

Stainless steel  exhibits excellent weldability, this type of stainless steel is suitable for all welding techniques (except rock welding). The cutting ability of Inox 304 is lower than that of Carbon steel, when processing this material on machine tools, it must require low rotational speed, large inertia, and the cutting tool must be hard, sharp and not forgot to use coolant.

Stainless steel  has very good formability, it can be laminated without heating. This makes this stainless steel exclusive in the field of manufacturing stainless steel details such as sinks, pans, pots … This property also makes stainless steel used as brake lines in industry and vehicles such as cars, vehicles. machines, bicycles…

4. Mechanical properties and physical properties

No different from the steels in the Austenitic series, 304 stainless steel’s magnetism is very weak and almost nonexistent. But after working in low temperature environment, the magnetism is very strong (this goes against the process of quenching).

In addition,  304 stainless steel  can only be hardened in low temperature environments. The highest elastic stress that 304 stainless steel can achieve is 1000MPa, which is also influenced by factors such as the amount and shape of the material.
